Video is inherently factual. It is a record of what someone said.
One of the main concepts of this web site is to get grassroots
groups to create real life video of candidates by asking them
questions on camera. We want voters to see what Democratic
Women's groups, Republican Women's groups, the Tea Parties and,
if we are lucky, Churches and the Occupy Wall Street Movement see.

NOTE: For the 2012 election cycle
the CongressOfHope.com will likely
develop the voting record area for the Statehouse races in our home
state of South Carolina and skip the federal voting records.

incumbent State Senator in SC. Check back often as much updating is
foreseen for this area.
The following is a link to some biographic information on
Congressman Gowdy. It contains details such as education,
marital status, religion, etc.
Money raised:
NOTE: The information contained here is from 2010.
If this race becomes competitive this area will likely be
updated for the main candidates. Despite claims to the contrary,
government is usually not very transparent, but for some
reason FEC information is quite transparent. The amount and
source of contributions will often be very revealing.
Cash on hand - $39,003
Disbursements - $429,617
Total raised for cycle ending 5/19/2010 - $468,620
From individuals - $464,120
From Political Action Comitees - $4,500
From the republican party - $0
From the challenger - $0
From other sources - $0
Note: Amounts listed above are from the FEC (Federal Election
Commission) web site. The most important numbers are "Cash on hand"
and "expenditures". Trey
Gowdy has definitely raised enough money to be a viable candidate.
Another good indicator is that he has raised almost all of his
money from contributions from individuals instead of political
action committees (PACs) though about one percent came from this
source. In contrast, Bob Inglis has raised
almost twenty-five percent of his campaign money from PACs.
Observations from the CongressOfHope.com
Observations from the CongressOfHope.com
Trey Gowdy did beat the incumbent, Bob Inglis, in the Republican
primary in 2010 and went on to become the first term incumbent
for this district. Mr. Gowdy claimed to
be a conservative for less government. At
this time we still have no reason to doubt him.
